Marilyn Gaughan Reddan is an experienced and outcome-driven cultural executive with a proven ability to build effective relationships across all sectors. She has over 20 years of management and leadership experience in cultural management and European programmes in the public and local government service. She serves as a member of the panel of experts on European Capitals of Culture at the European Commission and is a member of the European Urban Initiative pool of experts.
Marilyn currently sits on the board of the Chamber of Commerce in Galway. She chairs the policy committee and is also a member of the president’s committee, which holds overall responsibility for policy and strategy for the organisation. The Chamber has a membership of over 500 businesses.
She has been a key driver in several European designations for Galway including the European Capital of Culture and UNESCO City of Film and is a well-regarded expert on European funding and partnerships. Marilyn is currently Chief Executive at the Galway Culture Company, which is a partner to many organisations in the areas of European programmes and cultural networks. A significant part of her career to date has been ensuring that culture and art is a key driver for development that links with other sectors such as research, tourism, education, science, business, technology, environment, rural and urban development, climate and health.
Marilyn’s qualifications and experience includes professional arts management, legal, financial, corporate governance, strategic planning and risk management, operations, HR, public policy, local government, EU projects, development and funding. Marilyn is a highly experienced non-executive director.
