We are about to finish the first draft of the programme, which takes the form of a narrative outlining the goals for each day, existing plans, and any emerging needs. However, we would like to share with you a rough outline and cornerstones of the programme.
On Wednesday, 12 November, the PACESETTERS Polyclinic of Creative Practice will open at noon at La Termica. Visitors and delegates will be welcomed to the first day of the programme, which will focus on policy.
At 15:00, a Policy Lab will start investigating the role of artistic research in the climate transition. The issues at stake are: How can Artistic Research and Innovation practices be scaled up to meet the challenges of the climate transition? How can innovation be fostered through collective, place-based practices? And how can arts-based innovation be leveraged for decentralised governance models?
In the early evening, we plan to gather for a session on 'Arts and culture as a driver of sustainable innovation in rural and remote areas'.
Thursday, 13 November is IMPACT DAY. What constitutes meaningful creative work when the world is on fire? The morning sessions focus on PACESETTERS Creative Case Studies and Real World Laboratories. The official opening ceremony of the SUMMIT starts at 13:00 with a speech by Teresa Ribera, the Vice-President of the European Commission.
The afternoon will feature various meetings, consultations, exercises, installations and sprints, concluding with a session on impact investment and alternative funding for the cultural and creative sector.
Friday, 14 November is RESEARCH DAY. Practice-based and practice-led forms of knowledge production lie at the heart of the PACESETTERS methodology. Before lunch, the focus will be on research strategies that address societal challenges, ranging from responses to the current wave of digitisation and automation to urgent issues such as dealing with the colonial legacies of cultural heritage. The aim is to look beyond ongoing projects and identify the most relevant areas for the next Horizon Europe Work Programme.
Alongside another round of meetings, consultations, exercises, installations and sprints, we will address specific issues such as independent digital infrastructure, Audience Science and the potential of Art and Health collaborations.
In the early evening, we will discuss artistic intelligence as a key concept driving practice-based research across the arts and culture.
Saturday, 15 November is ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY. In collaboration with La Termica, local and regional projects and initiatives will be presented. Various sessions throughout the day will discuss the pressing skills needed to support co-agency and triple-loop learning strategies. The main goal of this day is to explore the challenges of artistic and creative entrepreneurship as opportunities to learn how to work together. On that basis, we will try to shape an understanding of competitiveness that is based on creative confidence and competence.
On Sunday 16 November, we will offer the opportunity to visit Genalguacil and the PACESETTERS Real World Laboratory. We are currently organising an optional field trip from Sunday morning until late afternoon.
